Stop by and see us for a mouthwatering taste of montana.

At Buffalo Block, we’re all about juicy, melt-in-your-mouth USDA Prime wet or dry aged steaks, fresh and savory seafood, and rich, comforting flavors — but we also love a great experience. We’ll bring a little bit of everything to your table when you come visit us in the historic old Rex Hotel building on Billings’ famous Montana Avenue.

Not just steak, USDA Prime Wet or Dry Aged Perfection

Not all steaks are created equal. The USDA Prime grade is reserved for the absolute best beef available, where only 2% of US beef qualifies.  We didn’t stop there in our quest for the perfect steak, we wet and dry age our steaks to bring out the best flavors and texture possible.  Topping-off our preparation is our signature wood-fired grill, there’s no better way to enjoy a perfect USDA Prime aged steak.

Indulge in our take on “classics.”

From filet mignon, ribeye, new york strip, and wood-fired prime rib all the way to our lobster tails, king crab legs, scallops, roasted chicken, and short ribs. We’re all about finding a new way to present the time-honored greatness of a dependable steakhouse — along with some creative side dishes and desserts that might just threaten to steal the show.

The legacy of the Rex Hotel — and why we had to be a part of it.

A century-old Billings icon that’s seen its fair share of Billings history first-hand, the Rex on Montana Avenue was a favorite haunt of Buffalo Bill, Calamity Jane, and Will James — and now it can be your new favorite watering hole, too.

How Buffalo Blocks paved the old West

(and other tales).

Back in 1900, buffalo blocks were invented as a way to pave muddy streets across the country. Today, we still have a few of these old bricks built straight into the structure of the building — just one example of the history contained within these walls.
